A World Without Politicians

A Visionary New Form Of Government

What is the purpose of the government?
What is the purpose of politicians?
And more importantly…
Can we do better?

There is a better way to do it now!

A form of government where EVERYONE is the PRESIDENT! I propose a new form of government called, “Dynamic Decentralized Democracy,” or “DDD” for short.

This article is broken into 4 parts:

  • A New Form of Government: DDD
  • The Problem: Every Empire Falls
  • The Purpose of Governments
  • The Purpose of Politicians

A NEW FORM OF GOVERNMENT

DDD will be a combination of AI, blockchain technology, and social media. This new system will allow for the highest level of government transparency, ease of participation, and perhaps most importantly of all, will allow us to vote for ideas rather than people. It will alter politics as we know it to such a degree that everyone will be president for 15 minutes. Imagine that!

The DDD will require a new social-media-like platform that incorporates all of the best characteristics from our current platforms. (It may sound ridiculous, but social media is the most expedient broad form of communication we have, and indeed, is one of the greatest advancements of the internet. Don’t fail to see the potential of a complex ‘planetary instant communication network’)

The new platform will allow everyone to participate anonymously, but still allow for accountability. It will maintain a ‘track record’ and statistics so we can judge the originator of an idea without actually knowing who they are. Thus, users will receive ‘badges’ for such things as: expertise in a field, or trustworthiness, as well as destructive behavior, trolling, etc. Different ‘rooms’ will be made where people can join discussions about local or national matters, they can join groups that discuss disaster preparedness, infrastructure, monetary policy, anything and everything. AND it’s incentivized!

DDD will encourage participation by distributing micropayments for voting up/down ideas, submitting new ones, moderating discussions, defending against attacks, and otherwise maintaining the system. This is only possible with recent developments in cryptocurrency. The survival of the system will be in all participants’ best interest, and barrier for entry is extremely low (compared to current politics.) Furthermore, if adopted on a global scale with the same currency maintaining the system, we could PREVENT NEARLY ALL WAR. A shared currency would create a situation where attacks would cause the devaluation of ones own currency, thus deincentivizing attacks… nice side perk.

DDD can utilize AI to help guide our decision making and potentially protect us from biological/sociological pitfalls. AI could help prevent the dreaded ‘tyranny of the majority’ and ensure that minority opinions are heard and valued commensurately. It can also help filter out the inevitable spam while simultaneously digging through comments to find the diamonds in the rough and help recycle the best ideas up to the top for further discussions.

These of course are just the core ideas and the system has quite a bit more detail, but we’ll have to save it for an additional article. I realize you may have a lot of “But, what about”s and I urge you to comment for the betterment of this idea, or to push me, or just call me crazy.

What follows is an explanation of why we need DDD, and where the concept came from.

THE PROBLEM: Every Empire Falls

Every single society in the history of human kind has one thing in common: THEY FAIL!

Why?

There is a common central point of failure in nearly all societies: it is US. That’s right, we humans are sociologically inclined towards self-destruction. Like our chimpanzee cousins, our biology drives us to form hierarchies; our troupes grow larger like a pyramid rising up from the ground. The hierarchy will grow taller and taller, supported at the base by the blood and sweat of its “lowest” citizens.

Unfortunately, there is a day which inevitably comes where a power monger claws their way to the top, loses their balance, and brings the entire structure crashing down with them; these crashes frequently result in nations becoming divided and/or going to war. The crashes grow increasingly louder and louder as we progress through the ages. In the end, a last day will come, when one of the societies crashes so hard, it will shake the Earth, and there will be nobody left to build anything…

We have continued this societal “boom and bust” cycle since the dawn of civilization, so why do we keep doing it? Einstein said it best: Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. So, we must ask ourselves, “Why are we doing this?”

THE PURPOSE OF GOVERNMENTS

The interwebs do not show consensus on the matter, but as a basic idea, I think we can mostly agree that the government should exist to protect the society from external threats, promote the welfare of its citizens, and ensure the healthy continuity of the society. Easy, right?

Countries tend to start off well meaning, but most of the major governments around the world now exist only to enrich a handful of people at the top of the pyramid at the expense of everyone else. Serfdom and indentured servitude never ended, they just evolved. In the US, they simply gave the king a different title. The neo-serfs who keep the pyramid upright are placated with larger televisions, newer phones, and shinier cars — just enough to keep them going to work, going home, eating, sleeping, and going to work ad nauseam until the day the society collapses, the rich evacuate, and the rest are left to scavenge for the scraps and rebuild for the next wave of rich people. This is not the purpose of government, so how did we end up this way?

Social politics: It’s a matter of time before all the people involved in the industry built around ‘the leadership’ become very well acquainted. They become notably wealthy individuals and their social circles will naturally form a sort of ‘insulation’ between them and the people that are not part of that exclusive group — this is not cutting edge psychology here, it’s just how we work as humans: rich people tend to meet more rich people, poor meet poor, writers meet writers, politicians meet politicians.

At the top, they operate the system like coworkers at a corporate poker table: each hoping to beat the others broke, but not at the expense of the game. Of course “anyone” can join, but the barriers to entry are high: there are armed bouncers at the door, and the buy-in is millions of dollars.

THE PURPOSE OF POLITICIANS

Politicians used to serve an important purpose. They were “representatives” who would go to a meeting place to discuss ideas regarding the community. They provided a voice to the working people because, obviously, it would have been impossible for an entire city to attempt cramming into a single room to shout at each other about taxes. It would have been ridiculous to expect everyone to ride on horseback for 2 days to the capital building, so it made logistical sense to have a leader carry our ideas along with them to a meeting with the other leaders. This has been true for 99% of human history, but it is no longer the case.

Now, we not only have the means to change, but we are compelled to by the threat of yet another massive societal and economic collapse. Change or die = good motivation.

We now have meeting rooms that can accommodate the entire population of a country at the speed of electricity. “Chat rooms” via Reddit forums, Youtube comments sections, Twitter, etc. You can be in Washington DC debating policy while you’re physically in a bunker 40 stories below sea level on a bunk bed in pajamas.

So do we need representatives if we can represent ourselves? Hahaha! NO, we don’t! And, it is time for us to take back our power. It is time for humanity to “evolve,” and we may not have a choice.

In front of our species are two paths: we can continue to do as we have done by constructing social pyramids that inevitably collapse under their own weight, leading us to a place where the eventual power shifts result in a human-ending war/catastrophe, OR we can transition to a new and unprecedented form of government I have envisioned and call “DDD”

Is this system possible? Or will you cast it aside like some nobody’s delusion? Do you have the vision to see a world where power is distributed as evenly as possible? A world united by ideas rather than people? A world with government that matches the era?

I am an entrepreneur and I want to build it. I am looking for help, but first, I need a sign. A sign from YOU that this is something good...

No reaction, no system (from me,) and I wish you luck. I’ll be in my bunker in my pajamas. Or, if you see the potential in a new system like DDD, tell your smart friends about it. Tweet it, share it, talk about it. Make me believe that this is worth it. Please.

Love,

Logan
