Hello cryptofriends, defi pals, and OpenDAOists from my community! I’ve adapted this guide to help you set up your Metamask from start to finish.

MUST HAVE tools & skills for everyone in the DeFi space!

Get it!

Take a look at the contents and skip ahead if you’re already ready:

metamask.io
  • GET METAMASK
  • CREATE WALLET
  • ADD BSC MAINNET TO METAMASK
  • ADD NEW BSC TOKENS

GET METAMASK

You can visit the browser extension marketplace to download the most recent MetaMask extension. I recommend using Chrome or Brave browsers.

The Metamask wallet is a plug in that allows you to receive and send crypto currency, but more importantly, it allows you to engage with DeFi protocols through their websites!

Easy way to receive, send, and interact with cryptocurrency online!

CREATE YOUR METAMASK WALLET

Creating a new wallet is a big step! It’s a very powerful tool. Respect it!

⚠️CAUTION: You will receive a series of words that acts as a recovery passphrase if you lose access to the device that has your metamask on it…

DO. NOT. LOSE. IT!

⚠️Also, don’t leave them on your computer! Etch it on the bottom of your desk, get a tattoo, or print it out 5x… but don’t leave them on your computer titled “Crypto Passwords”…

ADD BSC MAINNET TO METAMASK

You can change networks (switch blockchains) and add new ones by clicking on the long oval tab at the top of the wallet interface. It’s labeled: “Ethereum Network.”

Click it!

We are looking for “Custom RPC.” It’s probably at the bottom.

Click it.

Carefully enter the BSC Mainnet details into the form on your wallet, and click save when you’re finished:

Smash that SAVE button

You have now connected your wallet to Binance Smart Chain and can interact with an entire new ecosystem of products like omnicomp.ocp.finance!

ADD NEW BSC TOKENS

There are a few quick ways to add tokens, but I will focus on showing you the manual way in case you’d like to use one of those smaller tokens on the market!

I will show you how to add OpenDAO’s token on BSC, $pOPEN!

The “Add Token” feature is at the bottom of your MetaMask Assets list.

Add Token — Click it.

If you’re like me, you’ll need to scroll down a ways.

All you have to do is enter the token contract address. You can find these on bscscan.com (etherscan.com on the Ethereum Network,) and CoinGecko is a great resource that also provides these.

The contract for the pOPEN token is:
0xabae871b7e3b67aeec6b46ae9fe1a91660aadac5

Enter it (or another contract address) in the “Token Contract Address” Field.

Copy and Pasta!

⚠️ MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE RIGHT CONTRACT ADDRESS!

Parasitic people sometimes make ‘copies’ of coins identical names to trick new people... ALWAYS confirm on an official site.

Did you enter the contract address? The remainder of the token information in the wallet form should have appeared!

Click Next.

Next!

After clicking “Next”, you should see the token, perhaps with a generic logo, and any balance that you have. Click “Add Tokens.” Done!

Next you need to get some tokens! Next article…

Rinse, wash, and repeat! DeFi Safely Folks!

⚠️You MUST have BNB in your BSC wallet to do any transactions!

I hope all of you made it this far! Congratulations on this new venture!

If you liked my content let me thank you in advance for smashing that 👏 button a few times!

See you next time!
